Expense Tracker (“the App”) is developed by Zain Shahzad. The App helps users manage expenses, track finances, and collaborate through shared ledgers (“Shared Khata” features).
This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, stored, and protected when you use the App.
By using Expense Tracker, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect
Expense Tracker operates in two different modes:
a. Personal / Offline Mode
When using the App only for personal expense tracking:
- Your data remains stored locally on your device.
- We do not collect, transmit, or store your personal transactions on our servers.
This includes:
- Expense entries
- Budgets
- Categories
- Notes
- Dates
- Financial records
All such information stays on your device unless you explicitly use cloud-based shared features.
b. Shared Khata / Multiplayer Mode
When you create or join a shared ledger, the App uses cloud services to synchronize data between collaborators.
In this mode, the following information may be processed:
- Shared book names
- Collaborator display names
- Customer names
- Optional phone numbers
- Transaction details (credit/debit records, amounts, notes, dates)
- User attribution for entries
- Anonymous Firebase Authentication User ID (UID)
This information is required for real-time synchronization and collaboration features.
2. Advertising and AdMob
Expense Tracker contains advertisements provided by Google AdMob.
AdMob may automatically collect certain information to provide personalized or non-personalized ads, including:
- Device identifiers
- Advertising ID
- IP address
- Device type
- Operating system information
- App interaction data
Google may use this data in accordance with its own privacy policies.

Users may manage ad personalization settings through their Google account or device settings.
3. Data Storage
Local Storage
Personal expense data is stored locally on your device using on-device databases/storage systems.
Cloud Storage
Shared Khata data is securely stored using:
- Google Firebase Realtime Database
- Google Firebase Authentication
These services enable secure synchronization between collaborators.
4. Third-Party Services
Expense Tracker may use trusted third-party services, including:
- Google Firebase
- Google AdMob
- Google Play Services
These services may collect and process information according to their own privacy policies.

5. Data Security
We take reasonable security measures to protect your information.
Security measures include:
- Encrypted communication using SSL/TLS
- Firebase database security rules
- Access restrictions for shared ledgers
- Authentication-based synchronization
However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
Users are responsible for securing access to their own devices.
6. Your Rights and Controls
You maintain control over your data.
Personal Data
You may delete locally stored data by:
- Clearing app storage
- Using in-app reset features
- Uninstalling the App
Shared Data
Shared ledger data may be removed by deleting transactions or customer records within the shared book.
Leaving Shared Books
You may leave shared ledgers at any time. After leaving, your device association with that shared book will be removed.
7. Permissions Used
Expense Tracker may request the following permissions depending on enabled features:

The App only requests permissions necessary for core functionality.
8. Children's Privacy
Expense Tracker is not intended for children under the age of 13.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us so appropriate action can be taken.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated periodically to reflect:
- Feature updates
- Legal requirements
- Security improvements
- Changes in advertising or analytics services
When updates are made, the “Last Updated” date will be revised.
Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
